A SENSE OF ADVENTURE
Let's talk about the layers of design that can help you to experience a sense of adventure.
When was the last time you were in a space that gave you a sense of wonder? Comment below to tell me about it. What do you think helped to create those feelings?
Working with interior designers who specialize in the layering of textures, colors and visual stories to create an immersive experience makes us push the limits of design, test new shapes and construction techniques and #thinkbeyondtheedge
Pictured here are a few of our custom creations at the award winning Hotel Wailea (check out their new website).

The solid teak bistro table was designed to create a quiet lanai escape. The texture and shape emulates the bark pattern on nearby palm trees.
The technical aspects of design include consideration for wood movement for an exterior environment, space and angles for any rainwater to wick away and finish that can be easily maintained after leeward sun exposure.
This solid teak coffee table is made from FSC certified plantation teak and features a wire wheeled, distressed top with butterfly joinery detail.
The oval shape compliments the existing lanai furniture for a seamless and intentional space to escape to.
A custom sofa table becomes a desk and informal dining space in the luxurious one-bedroom suites.
The carving along the front edge of these unique pieces is inspired by a Hawaiian Kapa design of interlocking triangles. These triangles represent a place where beauty and tradition live on in harmony; connecting peoples, cultures and ideas.

Lovingly nicknamed 'The Globe', these coffee table legs are made from solid walnut and weigh in at a whopping 60lbs each. With a Taj Mahal Quartz top these coffee tables are a statement piece in the Kai (Ocean) suites.
Artful luxury. A term now used by Hotel Wailea to describe their Āina and Kai suites, creating an individually styled and curated haven.
Inspired by nature. These are all mirrors that, depending on their location, have a different texture. Designed to emulate combed sand (think zen garden) or a weather basalt outcrop, ocean rubbed sand or volcanic rivulets.
Each design needed a different tone of finish (that would stand up to commercial use) and a different sheen requirement to help bring about the desired essence of nature thy were designed for.
