This exceptional boardroom table was custom crafted for the Ts’uubaa-asatx Nation - the “People of the Lake” - whose deep roots and continuing presence around Cowichan Lake are a central part of community identity and governance.
The table’s top is constructed from beautifully figured maple, chosen for its warm, natural grain that reflects the rich forests of Vancouver Island. Its live edges have been preserved to celebrate the organic beauty and unique character inherent in the wood, giving the piece a sense of life and continuity.
Running through the center of the table is a striking blue resin inlay that evokes the deep, serene tones of Cowichan Lake itself, a visual tribute to the Nation’s ancestral waters. The resin’s rich hue contrasts with the pale maple, creating a design that is both bold and harmonious, much like the relationship between land and water at the heart of Ts’uubaa-asatx culture.
At each end of the table sits a laser-engraved band logo of the Ts’uubaa-asatx Nation, precisely etched into the wood as a symbol of pride and identity. This custom lasered emblem anchors the design, reflecting the Nation’s governance, resilience, and cultural heritage. It makes the table not just a functional boardroom centerpiece, but also a meaningful representation of community stature and unity.
Finished with a durable protective coat, this table is built for everyday use in meetings, planning sessions, and council gatherings, while also standing as a ceremonial and cultural statement piece that honors the Ts’uubaa-asatx legacy and future.
