Crafted for Hotel Wailea in Hawaii, this walnut headboard is more than just a functional piece — it’s a celebration of the wood’s natural beauty and the artistry of handcrafted design. Each board showcases the rich, flowing grain of walnut, with butterfly joints thoughtfully placed to highlight knots and unique patterns while providing subtle structural elegance. The result is a piece that feels alive, warm, and inviting, echoing the serene beauty of Hawaii itself.
A total of 10 headboards were created, each one telling its own story through the distinct characteristics of the wood. From the deep, lustrous tones to the gentle undulations along the edges, every detail is designed to draw the eye and invite touch, creating a tactile and visual experience that elevates each guest room into a private sanctuary.
The original concept was developed by the project’s designer, and we collaborated closely to refine proportions, material transitions, and construction details, ensuring the final piece was both visually striking and built to perform in a demanding hotel setting.
