Originally commissioned for the prestigious Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge at YVR, this iconic community table balances grand architectural scale with the raw, undulating beauty of salvaged old-growth timber. Crafted to provide a moment of natural respite for global travelers, this dual-slab installation turns an open floor plan into a luxurious destination.
This exceptional statement piece features two massive, sustainably harvested Western Bigleaf Maple slabs running parallel to one another, sourced directly from Vancouver Island. Each slab is hand-selected for its dramatic grain patterns, rich golden hues, and deeply contoured live edges that trail off the ends in an organic, sculptural waterfall effect. Anchoring the center of the table is a custom-fit glass insert, creating a smooth, functional river surface that bridges the two live-edge pieces while elegantly concealing integrated access for under-table power and data management.
To ensure this masterpiece endures the test of time, we protect the wood with our signature commercial-grade finishing process. We apply a premium, two-part conversion varnish that provides maximum chemical and moisture resistance. This specialized finish cures into an incredibly durable, low-sheen protective barrier that shields the wood from heavy daily use, spills, and frequent sanitization, all while preserving the raw, natural look and tactile beauty of the grain without any artificial gloss. It is the exact same high-performance, low-glare finish we trust for all our furniture, whether it is destined for a busy international airport or a high-use family dining room.
