LATEST END OF SUMMER NEWS
With the last days of Summer upon us, we are filling our schedules with presentations in Whistler, design and sales trips to Vancouver and a team building trip to Tigh Na Mara in Parksville. But we are also reflecting back on a summer spent in nature with family and friends.
We celebrated birthdays, lazily floated down the Cowichan river, walked our dogs, went 4x4ing, horse back riding on the beach, golfing, bird watching, stargazing and so much more! We even took a spontaneous trip to Vancouver to watch the Bard on the Beach performance of a 1960s inspired version of William Shakespeare's "As You Like It". It was the most fun and creative iteration of a Shakespeare play that I have ever seen, and still entertaining after 400 years! Check it out for next year here
What inspired you this summer?
Read on for an educational tidbit from the Global Buyer's Mission in Whistler (September 6th-9th), latest creations and an intro to the Cowichan Artisans tour that will be running October 28th-29th.
Donna, Employee Owner & President of Live Edge Design
Our new innovative Portable Event Furniture Line is called Portare. Designed for the hospitality industry, Portare tables look and feel like solid wood tables, yet they are portable, light-weight and sturdy. Great for weddings, catered parties, meetings.
Portare embodies the "metro" design - simplicity, yet impactful and beautiful. It's all about the fresh and modern look. Metro design reflects and complements the way we live and travel. It is easy and inexpensive to maintain. The secret lies in choosing pieces for their functionality first and then making sure they also fit the design's aesthetic. Portare will never disappoint.

The 20th annual Global Buyer's mission was held September 7th-9th 2023 in beautiful Whistler, BC. The GBM brings brings international buyers to meet wood products manufacturers and suppliers from all across Canada. The same event in 2022 saw the largest turnout of wood products industry representatives to ever participate in the GBM.
Donna sits on the Board of Governors of BC Wood. She gets to assist in setting the general direction of BC Wood and adds to the voice of the Value Added Industry in her role as Sector Chair for Furniture.
This year's Live Edge Design presented the idea of 'Thinking Beyond the Edge' when it comes to using wood in luxury furniture design. The concept of selecting the best wood for the project based on properties of different species (including western red alder, western bigleaf maple and walnut), creating the most value from a single tree and preserving it for generations for it's longest possible life.
