SENTINEL SLIDING TRACK DOOR

BY JOHN LORE, LIVE EDGE DESIGN AND

ANDREAS AND NAOMI KUNERT, ANCIENT ART OF STONE.

Live Edge Design and Ancient Art of Stone are both considered preeminent artists in their field.

This amazing collaborative door measures: 50” wide X 82” tall X 4” thick and weighs about 600 pounds.

It is made of Walnut and stone. The wood is from the St. Charles Street Walnut salvaged for the oneTree exhibit at the Robert Bateman gallery, where the door was exhibited along with the work from 50 other artists.

Videos and photos are available of the making of Sentinel.

The mosaic portion of Sentinel includes precious and semi precious stones including some with Sacred powers, all framed by a consecutive set of slabs from a limb of the St. Charles Walnut. There is a 300 million year old ammonite fossil and a 40 year old volcanic stone found in a lava tube in Mount St Helens from the eruption of May 18, 1980, which would have coated the St Charles Street walnut tree in ash.

Other stones include: Red Avatar Jasper, Snakeskin Agate, Serpentine, Amazonite and chrysocolla.

The other side of Sentinel is a large 50 million year old fossil from an ancient lake bed in Wyoming, depicting 3 remarkable fish fossils and many smaller creatures. Pictured on the right is the fossil of a Diplomystus Dentatus. A fossil of this size and quality may sell on its own to collectors for as much as $50,000.

The frame of Sentinel is from solid walnut milled from the heart of the trunk of the St. Charles Tree hand joined and hand adzed at Live Edge Design. It comes with custom wheels to hang the door on a track, barn style.
